Motorcycle Oil Selection Guide

Motorcycle engines have different operating conditions than passenger car engines. That's why it's essential to use oil specifically formulated for motorcycles.

Why Is Motorcycle Oil Different?

Motorcycle engines typically: - Operate at higher RPM (10,000+ RPM) - Use wet clutch systems (oil also lubricates the clutch) - Share gearbox oil with the engine - Produce higher power from smaller displacement

This is why automobile oil should not be used in motorcycles.

4-Stroke Motorcycle Oils

  • 4T 10W-40: A high-quality synthetic motorcycle oil prepared with advanced technology additives. Can be safely used in four-stroke, high-performance, air or water-cooled motorcycles in all seasons. Meets JASO MA and JASO MA2 specifications. Ideal for Japanese and European motorcycles.
  • 4T 20W-50: A premium motorcycle oil prepared from well-refined mineral base oils. Can be used in four-stroke, high-performance motorcycles in all seasons. Meets API SJ and JASO MA/MA2 standards.

2-Stroke Engine Oil

2T engine oil is used mixed with fuel. Preferred in scooters, small motorcycles, and garden equipment.

JASO Standards

  • JASO MA: For wet-clutch motorcycles (high friction coefficient)
  • JASO MA2: Enhanced MA standard for larger and more powerful motorcycles
  • JASO MB: For dry-clutch or scooter-type vehicles

Racing Oils

  • 4T 15W50 Racing: For racing and high-performance conditions
  • 4T 10W40 Racing: For track use and sporty riding

Change Intervals

  • Synthetic 4T: Every 5,000 - 8,000 km
  • Mineral 4T: Every 3,000 - 5,000 km
  • Oil filter: Must be changed with every oil change

Make sure to use oil that matches the specifications in your motorcycle's owner manual.
